How do I clean my electric razor?
So many grooming questions, so little time. At this point, every week we answer briefly and succinctly the most important questions about hairstyles, beards and body care. This time: How do I clean my electric razor properly? Whether professional or manual – it works best.
It is more hygienic, promises less bacteria and a clean shave: There are enough reasons why you should clean your shaver regularly. And a simple guide to it.
The face is a particularly sensitive skin area. Therefore, you should not be negligent not only in the skin care but also in the hygiene of your shaver. This not only increases the chances of a clean and smooth shave without small cuts – but also the longevity of your device. The more regularly you remove hair and dead skin cells, the longer the device will last.
To prevent bacteria from sticking, blocking your razor, and getting the best results from the morning shave, you need to clean the electric shaver properly.
There are several ways you can clean your razor. Some brands offer a professional service where you can send in your razor. The manufacturer then takes care of the care. You can usually use this service again and again. However, you will have to do without your razor during this time.
Some razors are also shipped with their own station. Mostly you have to put your razor only on the station and press a button – the rest is done automatically.
The manual cleaning
A more common solution is manual cleaning. It should be noted that depending on which manufacturer your razor is, it will be cleaned differently. Often you also buy the cleaning accessories with the razor. Read the instructions and follow the steps described.
However, there is also a universal cleaning that can be applied to every razor. This should be done if possible after every shave. That sounds a bit annoying at first. However, if you want to have more of your electric razor longer, you should get used to this routine.
Cleaning under running water
Before cleaning, make sure that your razor is not connected to the power supply.
Step 1: Remove the blade and shaving head of your shaver.
Step 2: Rinse both parts under warm water.
Step 3: Add some natural liquid soap and rub it on the shaving head.
Step 4: Rinse both until no more foam is visible.
Cleaning with the brush
Take off the shaving head of your shaver. Clean the blade with a small brush. These are usually added to your razor.
Note : Never clean the foil with the brush.
In addition to the regular cleaning, you should change the cutting parts of your shaver, ie shaving foil and blade block, about every 18 months. This ensures that the razor can perform to its full potential – and you can pursue your shaving routine without being disturbed.
